The Tenino Farmers Market will celebrate the opening of its ninth season on Saturday, June 29, with 24 vendors offering freshly picked produce, handcrafted artisan breads, gluten free bakery items, ice cream sandwiches, pork, quality hand-made gifts, plants, fresh flowers and baskets galore.

The market officially opened the first week of June, but will hold its annual celebration June 29.

PJ Farms will have early season produce, strawberries and Yakima cherries.

Ivy Acres Farm, Namaste, Silk Painting and High Point Family Farms have all joined the market for the first time.

This year’s anniversary celebration will include market fundraisers: “Plant-A-Carrot” and “Flower Power.”

Another fundraiser, “Buy a Sand & Water Bucket,” will be held in support of the City of Tenino Pool Fund.

Thurston County Fire District 12 will be at the market with an aid van and fire truck. They will be providing bicycle safety education and helmets for children.

The market sponsors high school community service projects and welcomes Zachary Vassar as a volunteer for the season.

The Tenino Farmers market takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., June-September, at the Tenino Elementary School on the corner of Garfield Avenue and Old Highway 99.

Women Infants and Children (WIC) and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition checks are accepted.
